Natural radioactivity Measurements of Dur-Kurigalzu's Ziggurat, Baghdad Governorate-Iraq using HPGe detector

Measurement of 238U, 233Th and 40K concentrations in soil samples collected from Ziggurat Dur-Kurigalzu west region Baghdad, have been evaluated, using high purity germanium detector. The activity varied 16.040 to 26.620 , 14.510 31.480 153.820 266.320 with average values 20.604±2.9 24.534±3.3 212.22±25.1 respectively. importance these measurements lies the estimation radiation risk, radium equivalent, absorbed dose, annual effective risk indices, gamma index, cancer risk. value dose ranged 33.187 outdoors 63.111 indoors. mean was estimated be 0.043 0.310 indoors study area. total calculated lifetime 0.991×10-3 1.485×10-3, while indoor exceeded recommended limit 6, 8, 9, 10. areas examined this showed radioactive contamination less than internationally permissible limits for sites inhabited by population.
