Natural polymers for vaginal mucoadhesive delivery of vinegar, using design of experiment methods

Background/Aim. Vinegar is one of the main international traditional nutraceuticals, and it has been used as a vaginal health protectant due to vagina pH balance maintenance antimicrobial properties. Since form vinegar liquid, difficult apply vaginally its short retention. The aim this study was design mucoadhesive gel made vinegar. Methods. Xanthan gum tragacanth were utilized natural gel-forming polymers. effects xanthan on mucoadhesion strength drug release formulations optimized using 3 level (32) factorial design. Several physico-chemical properties formulations, including viscosity, lubricity, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images hydrogel chains, chain kinetic, also investigated. Results.
