Natural enemies of Spodoptera frugiperda J.E Smith (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) on corn plants in West Sumatera

Abstract One of the harmful pests that attack corn plants in Indonesia is Spodoptera frugiperda . This invasive insect was detected West Pasaman district 2019. Outbreaks S. have spread to nearly every region Indonesia. There been no reports natural enemies Sumatera. The study’s objectives were count number individuals each location and identify enemies. research conducted Pasaman, Padang Pariaman, Tanah Datar, Limapuluh Kota as centers cultivation from March August 2021. Sampling done four districts by selecting three sub-districts district, then two villages sub-district. carried out purposive random sampling, larvae taken only during vegetative phase plants. To get enemies, parasitoids, nematodes, entomopathogens obtained reared laboratory. For predators with direct observation if found preying on results showed S.frugiperda had a different Sumatra. Coccinellidae predators, entomopathogenic fungi, nematode parasites, parasitoids field. Microplitis sp. common parasitoid almost all districts, parasitization rate 5.91%.
