Natural compounds as anti-atherogenic agents: Clinical evidence for improved cardiovascular outcomes

چکیده
Atherosclerosis, a chronic progressive inflammatory condition characterized by the formation of lipid-laden lesions in arterial walls, is associated with substantial morbidity (including ischaemic stroke and myocardial infarction) mortality. Risk factors for atherosclerosis are well understood can be ameliorated evidence-based guideline-directed pharmaceutical agents (e.g. reduction circulating concentrations low-density lipoprotein cholesterol statins). Additionally, many natural products (usually food derivatives) ‘nutraceuticals’ (pharmaceutical formulations prepared from components foods) have been shown to favourable effects on risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. This literature review summarises evidence anti-atherogenic compounds. The article focuses which discussed international guidelines supported extensive high-quality randomized-controlled trial (RCT) data. We focus micronutrients (compounds present small quantities) nutraceuticals, particular, phytosterols, polyunsaturated ?-3 fatty acids red-yeast rice. conclude that ‘nutraceutical approach’ (identify active ingredients products; produce according Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines; evaluate them long-term outcomes trials) mechanism domains product research medicine move closer together.

Natural polyphenols as anti-inflammatory agents.
Celiac Disease is a worldwide spread condition affecting 1:100-1:200 individuals. It is a permanent food intolerance to ingested gluten in genetically predisposed subjects. In this review we analyze the biochemical markers of the disease going from laboratory findings to histology passing through genetics. Gluten intolerance is a unique model of autoimmune disease in which we can recognize the ...
متن کاملThe evidence for natural therapeutics as potential anti-scarring agents in burn-related scarring
Though survival rate following severe thermal injuries has improved, the incidence and treatment of scarring have not improved at the same speed. This review discusses the formation of scars and in particular the formation of hypertrophic scars. Further, though there is as yet no gold standard treatment for the prevention or treatment of scarring, a brief overview is included. A number of natur...

Our research attempted to address two important questions--how microRNAs modulate atherogenic inflammatory genes from a panoramic viewpoint and whether their augmented expression results from reduced microRNAs suppression. To resolve these knowledge gaps, we employed a novel database mining technique in conjunction with statistical analysis criteria established from experimentally verified micr...
متن کاملEvaluation of natural anthracene-derived compounds as antimitotic agents.
Plants that contain anthracene-derived compounds such as anthraquinones have been reported to act as anticancer besides their use for millennia to treat constipation, but the mechanism of action is still unfolding. Therefore we pursue this study to explore a new horizon in the anticancer property of these agents with relevance to mitotic arrest. To achieve this goal, the antimitotic activity of...
متن کاملStyryl-Based and Tricyclic Compounds as Potential Anti-Prion Agents
Prion diseases currently have no effective therapy. These illnesses affect both animal and human populations, and are characterized by the conformational change of a normal self protein PrP(C) (C for cellular) to a pathological and infectious conformer, PrP(Sc) (Sc for scrapie). We used a well characterized tissue culture model of prion infection, where mouse neuroblastoma cells (N2a) were infe...
