Nano-gypsum in low dose improves the physicochemical properties of saline-sodic soil

چکیده

Increased Na+ ions negatively affect soil physicochemical characteristics. We ran a pot incubation experiment for 2 months and leaching another to monitor the effects of nano-gypsum (NG, <100 nm) in low affordable doses on improving saline-sodic Treatments included control (CK), conventional gypsum (CG; ≤ 0.5 mm) at 100% CG requirement (8.9 t ha−1: CGR), three NG (240, 480 960 kg ha−1 = 2.7%, 5.4% 10.8% CGR). Both applications CGR followed by had best effect performed almost equally. However, use most pronounced effect, where it decreased bulk density (16.4%) increased stable structure (46.2%). Also, hydraulic conductivity approximately 2.4 times, which helped increase Na-removal efficiency 68.9%. Moreover, reaction, electrical exchangeable-Na percentage 15.9%, 39.7% 71.4% compared CK, respectively. Therefore, may introduce novel alternative application strategy that allows lower rate with an adequate requirement.

Geochemical Modeling of Trivalent Chromium Migration in Saline-Sodic Soil during Lasagna Process: Impact on Soil Physicochemical Properties

Trivalent Cr is one of the heavy metals that are difficult to be removed from soil using electrokinetic study because of its geochemical properties. High buffering capacity soil is expected to reduce the mobility of the trivalent Cr and subsequently reduce the remedial efficiency thereby complicating the remediation process. In this study, geochemical modeling and migration of trivalent Cr in s...

Applying Biochar and Mineral Amendments to Remediate the Chemical Properties of a Saline-Sodic Soil

The present study was intended to improve the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil using the individual application of alfalfa residue and two biochars produced from sugarcane bagasse and walnut shell, at the weighting ratio of 5%; their concomitant application with gypsum, aluminum sulfate and the mixture of these two chemical amendments was considered. The experiment was conducted in th...

Stability of a Calcareous Saline-Sodic Soil During Reclamation

General guidelines to reclaim saline or sodic soils do not adequately consider variables such as pH and the presence of organic matter that are known to affect soil stability. Poor structural stability of sodic, saline-sodic, and high-pH soils adversely influences crop yields; promotes piping, tunneling, and slope erosion; and can accelerate the failure of water conveyance systems. We evaluated...

Effects of nano iron oxide powder and urban solid waste compost coated sulfur on chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil

The main limiting factors in saline-sodic soils are high amounts of salts, low soil organic matter (SOM) and lowavailability of macro and micro-nutrients. The effect of different amounts of nano iron oxide powder and urban solidwaste compost coated sulfur (USWCS) on the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil was investigated. The experimentwas conducted using a randomized complete block des...

Improving Soil Physical Indicators by Soil Amendment to a Saline-Sodic Soil

The application of organic amendments can be an appropriate solution to reclaim and improve physical propertiesof saline-sodic soils. In this research, an experiment was performed under greenhouse conditions to study the effect ofamendments to the physical properties of loamy saline-sodic soil. The five treatments were control (withoutamendment), municipal solid waste compost (MC), vermicompost...
