Multislice CT angiography as a roadmap for pedicle selection prior to breast reduction surgery

Abstract Background Accurate knowledge of breast arterial supply on individual basis is crucial prior to reduction surgery minimize the risk post-operative necrosis nipple-areola complex which a well reported complication. The purpose this cross-sectional study was test ability multislice CT angiography delineate dominant facilitate accurate pedicle selection improve patient outcome. Results Twelve patients underwent CTA both breasts NAC, internal mammary artery in most (87.5%) based findings and hence superomedial commonest pedicel chosen. None experienced NAC postoperatively while minority (16.6%) exhibited decreased sensation bilaterally. Conclusions Multislice useful pre-operative tool undergoing surgery.
