چکیده
Abstract Time–frequency localization of model-data discrepancies may provide useful information for climate models inter-comparison, and especially the goals model refinement improvement. CMIP5 long-term historical (1850–2005) run experiment are compared using wavelet-based multiscale descriptive diagnostic techniques with interesting results. Wavelet coherence maps can visualize ability alternative CMPI5 to capture observed variability at different time scales, while performance each is assessed goodness fit relative measures on a scale-by-scale basis. Finally, plots wavelet decompositions temperature series scales detect locate model/data disagreements across frequencies over time, thus providing researchers

Multiscale document segmentation using wavelet-domain hidden Markov models
We introduce a new document image segmentation algorithm, HMTseg, based on wavelets and the hidden Markov tree (HMT) model. The HMT is a tree-structured probabilistic graph that captures the statistical properties of the coeecients of the wavelet transform. Since the HMT is particularly well suited to images containing singularities (edges and ridges), it provides a good classiier for distingui...
متن کاملWavelet-based enhancement and denoising using multiscale structure tensor
In this paper, a concept called multiscale structure tensor is introduced, as an extension of the single-scale structure tensor. It is based on a redundant dyadic wavelet transform, and allows for accumulating multiscale gradient information of local regions. In this way, the technique has averaging properties, while preserving edge structures. We will show how to make advantage of this for ima...
متن کاملNatural Color Image Enhancement Based on Modified Multiscale Retinex Algorithm and Performance Evaluation Using Wavelet Energy
This paper presents a new color image enhancement technique based on modified modified MultiScale Retinex (MSR) algorithm and visual quality of the enhanced images are evaluated using a new metric, namely, Wavelet Energy (WE). The color image enhancement is achieved by downsampling the value component of HSV color space converted image into three scales (normal, medium and fine) following the c...
متن کاملMultiscale Modelling of Bubbly Systems Using Wavelet-Based Mesh Adaptation
Since typical industrial-scale reactors may contain many millions of bubbles, the extension of direct free-surface modelling techniques to resolve every bubble in the vessel would require far more computational power than will be available. A more immediate solution is to couple macro-scale reactor models to micro-scale models of individual bubbles and collections of a small number of bubbles. ...
