Multiple Scratching: An Atomistic Study

چکیده
Abstract Using molecular dynamics simulation, we investigate multiple scratching processes in which a tip moves through groove that has already been formed during previous scratch. We use conical indenter such the friction coefficient is independent of scratch depth. First, single to depth 4 nm compared with 2-cycle at 2 followed by second full nm. observe cycle shows smaller as long pre-formed without touching front end. In addition, studied 5 cycles scratching, was increased each cycle. These results confirm and generalize findings for A constant-load simulation emphasizes reduction transverse load—and, consequently, coefficient—is caused fact that, despite large normal area supporting load, only thin available resist movement tip. The work done good approximation proportional volume showing hardness approximately constant all investigated here.

Silicon carbide nanowires under external loads: An atomistic simulation study
The nanomechanical response properties of 3C-SiC nanowires are investigated using molecular dynamics simulation with Tersoff bond-order interatomic potential. Under axial compression and tensile strain, the computed Young’s modulus and structural changes at elastic limit do not depend appreciably on the diameter of the nanowire except for the nanowire of the smallest diameter 1 nm under compres...
متن کاملAn Atomistic Study of Interfacial Diffusion in Lamellar TiAl Alloys
In this paper we investigate self-diffusion of Ti and Al along interfaces present in the lamellar L10 TiAl by atomistic computer modeling. The interactions between the atoms are described by centralforce many-body potentials. The approach adopted is similar to that used in earlier atomistic modeling of bulk diffusion in TiAl [1, 2]. Both the formation and migration of vacancies is examined. The...
متن کاملDocking 90 Sr radionuclide in cement : An atomistic modeling study
Cementitious materials are considered to be a waste form for the ultimate disposal of radioactive materials in geological repositories. We investigated by means of atomistic simulations the encapsulation of strontium-90, an important radionuclide, in calcium–silicate–hydrate (C–S–H) and its crystalline analog, the 9 Å-tobermorite. C–S–H is the major binding phase of cement. Strontium was shown ...
متن کاملEndometrial scratching
In endometrial scratching, endometrium is gently “scratched” using a thin catheter which causes immunological reaction leading to increase implantation rate in women with unexplained recurrent implantation failure. Inducing injury to the lining of the uterus in the cycle before starting ovarian stimulation for IVF can help improve the chances of achieving pregnancy. The new lining which grows a...
