Multiple-Rack Strategies Using Optimization of Location Assignment Based on MRCGA in Miniload Automated Storage and Retrieval System

This paper aimed to introduce multiple-rack strategies in miniload automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RSs), which included first fit (FF) best (BF) assignment methods based on a matrix real-coded genetic algorithm (MRCGA) the process. We validated probability occurrence of item sizes as contributory factor strategies, compared their capacities, utilization units space by equal probabilities or 80/20 law. According analytical methods, BF showed reduction more than 11.2% FF travel distance, Type B-FF, B-BF C-BF were better able meet high-density requirements. These provide diversified solutions for manufacturing express delivery industry.
