Multiple concurrent centroid judgments imply multiple within-group salience maps

چکیده
Subjects viewed a brief flash of 8–24 dots either two or three colors randomly arrayed. Their task was to move mouse cursor the centroid (center-of-gravity) each color in pre-designated order. Conventional and idea-detector analyses show that subjects accurately judged all centroids utilizing an astounding 13/24 stimulus dots, with only modest loss accuracy compared judging single-predesignated centroid. The ability concurrently compute is important because it believed judgments are made on salience maps record ignorant features produced salience. Our explanation, instantiated computational model processing, have maps. Dots initially segregated into groups according color, then color-group recorded different map In Part 2, data analyzed terms Attention Operating Characteristics characterize impairments subjects’ color-attention filters (mostly insignificant) encoding efficiency (20% drop for hardest task) making multiple versus single judgments. A new, more sensitive analysis measured five sources subject error variance, four independent, additive variance: imperfect filters; Bayesian-like bias towards central tendency; storage, retrieval, misplacement error; a large residual due mostly inefficient encoding; fifth, interactive source – components increases when judgment required trial. An brain process map, representation relative importance (salience) locations visual space. It needed guide where look next, computing center (technically “centroid”) cluster items, other computations. Here we colors, interleaved, can centroids. As cannot discriminate reporting demonstrates not just one, as commonly believed, but at least

Watermarking Scheme Based on Multiple Chaotic Maps
a watermarking scheme for Grayscale image isproposed based on a family of the chaotic maps and discretecosine transform. Jacobian Elliptic mapis employed to encrypt ofwatermarked logo. Piecewise nonlinear chaotic map is also usedto determine the location of DCT coefficients for the watermarkembedding. The purpose of this algorithm is to improve theshortcoming of watermarking such as small key s...
متن کاملKnowing the crowd within: Metacognitive limits on combining multiple judgments.
We investigated how decision-makers use multiple opportunities to judge a quantity. Decision-makers undervalue the benefit of combining their own judgment with an advisor's, but theories disagree about whether this bias would apply to combining several of one's own judgments. Participants estimated percentage answers to general knowledge questions (e.g., What percent of the world's population u...
متن کاملCentroid-based summarization of multiple documents
We present a multi-document summarizer, MEAD, which generates summaries using cluster centroids produced by a topic detection and tracking system. We describe two new techniques, a centroid-based summarizer, and an evaluation scheme based on sentence utility and subsumption. We have applied this evaluation to both single and multiple document summaries. Finally, we describe two user studies tha...
متن کاملDuration Judgments Over Multiple Elements
We investigated the limits of the number of events observers can simultaneously time. For single targets occurring in one of eight positions sensitivity to duration was improved for spatially pre-cued items as compared to post-cued items indicating that exogenous driven attention can improve duration discrimination. Sensitivity to duration for pre-cued items was also marginally better for singl...
