Multimodal shunt damping of mechanical structures using multiple digital vibration absorbers

Abstract A novel piezoelectric shunt damping methodology for structures featuring different mode families with high modal density is introduced in this work. To end, multiple digital vibration absorbers comprising each a voltage sensor, processing unit and current injector are connected to transducers bonded these structures. The mimic multi-stage blocking circuit whose parameters determined sequential manner account the interaction between branches. Two tuning strategies which target either an actual resonance frequency of family or so-called mean developed compared, their robustness mistuning addressed. use combination design allows at same time. Finally, theoretical developments demonstrated experimentally on 3D-printed rail 5 blades.
