Multi-objective optimal design of double tuned mass dampers for structural vibration control

Abstract A double tuned mass damper (DTMD) for suppressing oscillations of civil structures is proposed in this study. DTMD a combination an undamped TMD and smaller TMD. The impact parameters on the essential characteristics, as well vibration absorption capacity DTMD, investigated. Using genetic algorithms (GA), optimum are determined by minimizing peak dynamic magnification factor structural responses wide range excitation frequencies. effectiveness robustness also compared with those optimized having similar weight DTMD. Furthermore, multi-objective optimization designs (for both two-objective three-objective) developed here.
