چکیده
The Mpemba effect occurs when two samples at different initial temperatures evolve in such a way that the cross each other during relaxation toward equilibrium. In this paper, we show emergence of Mpemba-like molecular binary mixture contact with thermal reservoir (bath). interaction between gaseous particles and is modeled via viscous drag force plus stochastic Langevin-like term. presence external bath couples time evolution total partial component allowing appearance phenomenon, even temperature differences are same order themselves. Analytical results obtained by considering multitemperature Maxwellian approximations for velocity distribution functions component. theoretical analysis carried out states close to far away (large effect) from former situation allows us develop simple theory where equation linearized around its asymptotic equilibrium solution. This linear provides an expression crossover time. We also provide qualitative description large effect. Our agree very well computer simulations numerically solving Enskog kinetic means direct simulation Monte Carlo method performing dynamics simulations. Finally, preliminary driven granular mixtures occurrence inelastic collisions.

Driven binary mixtures: Clustering and giant diffusion
– We study noise-assisted transport in a binary mixture of overdamped interacting particles. As one species (termed “active”) is subject to a weak dc drive, the other one (termed “passive”) can be dragged along due to the clustering of particles of both species. On increasing the external drive, clusters of different size fragment at different thresholds that depend on the mixture temperature, ...
متن کاملMpemba-Like Behavior in Carbon Nanotube Resonators
Surprising Mpemba-like dissipation is observed during computer simulated ring-down of the flexural modes of a single-walled carbon nanotube resonator. Vibrations are made to decay to zero faster by adding a larger initial excitation. We liken this counterintuitive observation to the well-known Mpemba effect in which hot water freezes faster that cold water. In both cases, the system seems to po...
متن کاملOscillatory driven colloidal binary mixtures: axial segregation versus laning.
Using Brownian dynamics computer simulations we show that binary mixtures of colloids driven in opposite directions by an oscillating external field exhibit axial segregation in sheets perpendicular to the drive direction. The segregation effect is stable only in a finite window of oscillation frequencies and driving strengths and is taken over by lane formation in the direction of the driving ...
متن کاملCritical Casimir effect in classical binary liquid mixtures.
If a fluctuating medium is confined, the ensuing perturbation of its fluctuation spectrum generates Casimir-like effective forces acting on its confining surfaces. Near a continuous phase transition of such a medium the corresponding order parameter fluctuations occur on all length scales and therefore close to the critical point this effect acquires a universal character, i.e., to a large exte...
