چکیده
Cardiac MRI (CMR) markers of diffuse myocardial fibrosis are prognostic importance in cardiomyopathies. However, CMR is expensive, time-consuming, and not readily available. An ECG correlate for fibrosis, via its effect on electrical heterogeneity, would be useful. The spatial ventricular gradient (SVG), a vectorcardiographic (VCG) measurement promising detected fibrosis. To assess the relationship SVG to extracellular volume (ECV) native T1 values patients referred CMR. Retrospective cohort study all from 2015 2022 at single academic medical center who had ECG(s) performed within 30 days Median VCGs were constructed 12-lead ECGs, was calculated as area under X, Y, Z median beats. ECV regressed vector magnitude, QT interval, QRS duration using linear regression. compared rank-sum test. Diffuse interstitial fibrosis assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance is associated with dispersion of ventricular repolarization in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
BACKGROUND Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is characterized by myocyte hypertrophy, disarray, fibrosis, and increased risk for ventricular arrhythmias. Increased QT dispersion has been reported in patients with HCM, but the underlying mechanisms have not been completely elucidated. In this study, we examined the relationship between diffuse interstitial fibrosis, replacement fibrosis, QTc dis...
متن کاملCardiac magnetic resonance evidence of diffuse myocardial fibrosis in patients with mitral valve prolapse
Background Diffuse myocardial fibrosis can be assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) using the myocardial longitudinal relaxation time constant (T1). Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is a common valvulopathy with known arrhythmic complications and in-vitro evidence of overexpression of pro-fibrotic TGF-beta. Papillary muscle fibrosis has been described in MVP, but the potential association of ...
متن کاملDiffuse myocardial fibrosis is associated with impaired myocardial strain and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis: a cardiovascular magnetic resonance study
Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease of the joints, with frequent extra-articular complications including cardiovascular disease and cardiac fibrosis from multiple causes. Diffuse myocardial fibrosis can be detected non-invasively by extracellular volume (ECV) mapping based on preand postcontrast T1 measurements using cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). We t...
متن کاملAssessment of diffuse myocardial fibrosis in systemic sclerosis by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging
Background Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disorder characterized by excessive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs, including the heart. Traditional late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is dependent on differential (i.e., focal) fibrosis within the myocardium. However, diffuse interstitial myocardial fibrosis (DF) affecting th...
متن کاملDiffuse myocardial fibrosis evaluation using cardiac magnetic resonance T1 mapping: sample size considerations for clinical trials
BACKGROUND Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping has been used to characterize myocardial diffuse fibrosis. The aim of this study is to determine the reproducibility and sample size of CMR fibrosis measurements that would be applicable in clinical trials. METHODS A modified Look-Locker with inversion recovery (MOLLI) sequence was used to determine myocardial T1 values pre-, and 12 and 2...
