Moving packed beds for cryogenic CO2 capture: analysis of packing material and bed precooling

This work expands upon previous on a moving bed cryogenic carbon capture (CCC). Cryogenic using fixed packed captures CO2 frost deposited the surface of material; this build-up fouls heat transfer column and requires periodic shut down process to regenerate material collect for further storage. Using continuously removes frosted from preventing excessive eliminating need regeneration step within column. paper sets out two objectives in evaluating an experimental system with volume i) compare different types column, high-density ceramic steel similar particle sizes, ii) combine precooling allow cooling formation simultaneously. Frost front velocity results materials show 0.78 mm/s 1.81 material. Introducing vertical gas injector into additional during allowed be extended approximately 5 minutes continuous capture.
