Most Appropriate Radiation Therapy Techniques for The Breast Cancer Treatment: Dosimetric Analysis of Three Different Radiation Therapy Methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Radiation-induced cardiac events and pneumonitis are the major late radiotherapy side effects. Methods: We explored differences in dose distribution between 3D CRT, IMRT VMAT 125 women with unilateral breast cancer. The various to tumor OARs were studied for left right sided irradiation. Results: Upon using CRT breasts lymph nodes, we observed a significant increase ipsilateral lung. Having irradiated only breast, there was negligible Dmean difference adjacent lung three methods, likewise myocardium cases. For right-sided cases showed lowest doses myocardium. Conclusion: Radiation oncologists should consider if conditions do not allow devising plans different methods. This turn will reduce cardio pneumotoxicity of cancer treatment. In treatment cancer, physicians focus on CRT.

Analysis of Hip Joint Dose in Prostate Cancer Radiation Therapy: A Dosimetric Comparison of Treatment Plans
Background and purpose: Radiation therapy as a part of cancer treatment is used in almost 50-60% of involved cases. In prostate cancer radiation therapy, a large volume of pelvis is irradiated, so, it is necessary to preserve sensitive organs around the treatment area, especially rectum and bladder. In this study, some dosimetric parameters such as minimum dose (Dmin), maximum dose (Dmax), mean...

متن کاملSkin Reaction in Radiation Therapy for Breast Cancer
Introduction The first medical intervention for many breast cancer patients is breast conserving surgery (BCS) and/or modified radical mastectomy (MRM). Most of these patients undergo radiation therapy, following surgery. The most common side-effect of breast radiotherapy is skin damage. In the present study, the severity of acute skin changes and the underlying causes were investigated in pati...
متن کاملComparison of three different techniques in parotid gland tumors using three dimensional conformal radiation therapy
Introduction: Background: Radiotherapy of parotid tumors is achieved by different radiotherapy techniques. So they deliver the dose to organs at risk such as contralateral parotid, temporal lobe & spinal cord. The consequences of high dose to OARs are xerostomia, Temporal lobe necrosis and loss of hearing. Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare different treatment tech...
متن کاملComparison of Radiobiological Models for Radiation Therapy Plans of Prostate Cancer: Three-dimensional Conformal versus Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy
Purpose: In the current study, using different radiobiological models, tumor control probability (TCP) and normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) of radiotherapy plans were calculated for three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) of prostate cancer. Methods and Materials: 10 prostate plans were randomly selected among patients ...
