چکیده
Mauremys rivulata (Family Geoemydidae) is a medium-sized freshwater turtle inhabiting various natural and manmade habitats, including rivers, seasonal ponds, lakes, brackish coastal lagoons, irrigation canals, reservoirs. In this study, the morphology of four different populations in Çanakkale was evaluated between sexes. The straight carapace length (SCL), width (CW), plastron (PL), (PW), body weight (W) measurements were obtained from total 114 adult specimens populations. sizes examined comparatively Kavak Delta located Thrace region, City Center Anatolia, two islands (Gökçeada Bozcaada) which are districts Çanakkale. Significant differences found males females all populations, with being larger than males. When compared, it determined that Gökçeada population largest (Female SCL 197,23±7,545; Male 187,47±13,757) smallest 152,02±23,391; 129,67±20,466).

Sexual dimorphism and morphometric study of Caspian pond turtle, Mauremyscaspica, (Testudines: Geoemydidae) in Golestan Province, southeast of the Caspian Sea
The Caspian pond turtle, Mauremyscaspica, is a terrapin belonging to family Geoemydidae. Totally 130 specimens (67 males and 63 females) were collected manually and by net from different aquatic habitats in Golestan Province from 2016 through 2017. Morphometric characteristics such as length were measured using digital caliper and weight by electronic weighting scale. Skin of this turtle was da...
متن کاملAn Ocadia sinensis x Cyclemys shanensis hybrid (Testudines: Geoemydidae)
A captive bred Ocadia sinensis x Cyclemys shanensis hybrid is described. Its hybrid status was confirmed by a comparison of a 1036 bp fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene with the putative mother (C. shanensis) and genomic ISSR fingerprinting. This is the first report of an intergeneric hybrid between very distantly related geoemydid turtles. All previous geoemydid intergeneric hybri...
متن کاملFormation of cartilage in the heart of the Spanish terrapin, Mauremys leprosa (Reptilia, Chelonia).
Cartilaginous deposits are regularly present in the heart of several reptilian, avian, and mammalian species. The formation of these extraskeletal cartilages has been studied in birds and mammals, but not in reptiles. The aim here was to elucidate this question in the Spanish terrapin. Hearts from 23 embryos belonging to Yntema (1968) developmental stages 17 to 26 and eight terrapins age 3 mont...
متن کاملComplex phylogeography in Rhinoclemmys melanosterna: conflicting mitochondrial and nuclear evidence suggests past hybridization (Testudines: Geoemydidae).
We examined differentiation within the Colombian wood turtle Rhinoclemmys melanosterna, and among R. melanosterna and the closely allied species R. diademata, R.funerea and R. punctularia, based on 1060 base pairs of the mitochondrial cyt b gene. We also assessed the phylogenetic relationships among these species using 2050 bp of mtDNA (partial cyt b, 12S and 16S genes) and 3620 bp of nuclear D...
متن کاملComplete sequence and organization of the mitochondrial genome of Cyclemys atripons (Testudines, Geoemydidae)
The Black Bridged Leaf Turtle, Cyclemys atripons (Testudines; Cryptodira; Geoemydidae), is a poorly known species within the genus Cyclemys. We determined the complete nucleotide sequence of the Cyclemys atripons mitochondrial genome (mtDNA) and found it to be 16,500 base pairs (bp) in length, with the genome organization, gene order and base composition being identical to that of the typical v...
