The cultivated chickpea (Cicer arietinum) holds great importance as a pulse crop in India. identification and classification of diverse genotypes are crucial for implementing effective strategies to improve this crop. This study was conducted get comprehensive morphological characterization desi using the DUS (Distinctness, Uniformity, Stability) descriptors suggested by Protection Plant Varieties Farmer's Rights Authority, Government India, 2018. Environmental conditions, such temperature, light, humidity, nutrient availability, can influence plant variability. Different environments impose selective pressures on plants resulting variability within populations. objective investigation identify classify based 17 different qualitative traits observed field experiment. Among only one trait exhibited consistent phenotype (monomorphic), six displayed two distinct phenotypes (dimorphic), nine three (trimorphic), showed more than phenotypic variations (polymorphic) among all studied. indicates presence significant genetic germplasm, offering potential assigning profiles varietal characterization.
