چکیده
In Morocco, the endemic Artemisia herba-alba is well known by its traditional uses and health benefits. The search for natural, safe, effective antibacterial antifungal agents from plants in high demand due to microbial fungal resistance conventional synthetic antibiotics drugs. this study, A. was collected region of Fez-Boulemane during periods March, June, September. Essential oils (EOs) were extracted aerial part plant hydrodistillation method. chemical constituents determined using GC-MS as analytical tools. antimicrobial activities different tested macrodilution results showed difference yields between three EOs (0.49, 1.74, 1.30% (mL/100 g)), respectively, their corresponding compositions. main revealed are higher contents oxygenated monoterpenes (84.7, 84.4, 81%), such cis chrysanthenyl acetate (30, 26.7, 27.6%), ?-thujone (23.2, 12.9, 15.4%), camphor (9.76, 14.3, 15.8%), chrysanthenone (2.4, 1, 14%), 1,8-cineole (1.5, 11.7, 11.8%), trans ?-dihydroterpineol (7.8, 7.2, 6.9%), ?-thujone (4.8, 3, 5.4%), sesquiterpenic davanone (3.9, 1.5, 1.4%), respectively. biological activities’ significant effects against four bacteria (E. coli, B. subtilis, S. aureus, M. luteus), with MIC values ranging 0.1 0.03% (v/v), interesting on both wood rot fungi examined (G. trabeum, P. placenta, C. puteana, versicolor) molds microorganisms (A. niger, digitatum, expansum), 0.2 (v/v) 0.4 June September EO samples more potent than those March. Our research findings quantitative variability compositions, which could be phenological stages, climatic conditions growth, harvesting periods. antimicrobial/antifungal provided might correlated contribution synergism effect all monoterpenes. These support possible application natural safe agents, an alternative drugs, enabling prevention treatment certain pathogenic infections food health, preservation alteration fungi.

Essential oil composition of Artemisia herba-alba from southern Tunisia.
The composition of the essential oil hydrodistilled from the aerial parts of 18 individual Artemisia herba-alba Asso. plants collected in southern Tunisia was determined by GC and GCMS analysis. The oil yield varied between 0.68% v/w and 1.93% v/w. One hundred components were identified, 21 of of which are reported for the first time in Artemisia herba-alba oil. The oil contained 10 components ...

Chromatographic investigation of the methylene chloride/methanol extract of the aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba afforded a new monoterpene dimer, in addition to a known monoterpene and three known sesquiterpene lactones. The structures of the compounds were determined by comprehensive NMR analyses, including DEPT, COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and HRMS.

Artemisia herba-alba Asso. is a shrub commonly encountered in Morocco. It is used in traditional medicine for treating intestinal disorders. The essential oil extracted from the plant's aerial parts reversibly relaxed the spontaneous tonus of the rabbit jejunum in a reversible concentration dependent manner with an IC(50) value of 97.33 ± 2.59 ng/ml and reversed the tonic contraction of rat jej...

Essential oils are natural antimicrobials that have the potential to provide a safer alternative to synthetic antimicrobials currently used in the food industry. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of essential oils from white wormwood, rose-scented geranium and bay laurel against Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli O157:H7 on fr...

Because of application of “Artemisia” in traditional medicine, many species of this genus have been surveyed by phytochemists and pharmacologists. On the other hand, many species in compositeae family have been found that have effective ingredients in medicinal projects. One of iranian species investigated previously is “Artemisia aucheri” which have six highly oxygenated monoterpenes. By using...
