Monitoring Land Subsidence Using PS-InSAR Technique in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan

چکیده

Land subsidence is a major concern in vastly growing metropolitans worldwide. The most serious risks this scenario are linked to groundwater extraction and urban development. Pakistan’s fourth-largest city, Rawalpindi, its twin Islamabad, located at the northern edge of Potwar Plateau, witnessing extensive expansion. Groundwater (tube-wells) residents’ primary daily water supply these metropolitan areas. Unnecessarily pumping local inhabitant’s excessive demand for disturb sub-surface’s viability. Persistent Scatterer Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar (PS-InSAR) approach, along with Sentinel-1 (SAR) imagery, were used track land Rawalpindi-Islamabad. SARPROZ application was study set imagery obtained from January 2019 June 2021 descending ascending orbits estimate ground Rawalpindi-Islamabad area. results show significant increase (?25 ?30 mm/yr) ?69 mm/yr ?98 2020. suggested approach effectively maps, detects, monitors subsidence-prone terrains will enable better planning, surface infrastructure building designs, risk management related subsidence.

Monitoring of land subsidence due to overexploitation of groundwater using PS-InSAR in the region in hamadan proviance, Iran

Land subsidence is one of the environmental hazards that has been less well-regarded by human societies due to lower human casualties. However, the earth subsidence causes irreparable damage to the urban areas and adjacent plains over time. In this study, Permanent Scatterer (PS) method has been used to monitor land subsidence in the region in hamadan proviance and its adjacent plains in west o...

Ps-insar Measurement of Land Subsidence in Bangkok Metropolitan Area

It is well known that the metropolitan area of Bangkok, Thailand, has been subsiding during the past decades. This ground deformation has been monitored using leveling networks on annual basis since 1978. However, the employed technique is costly, time-consuming, and able to monitor only on a limited number of benchmarks. InSAR (Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar), which can provide sub-c...

Insar and Polinsar for Land Subsidence Monitoring User Perspective

In this paper the selected interferometric studies of subsidence caused by underground mining are discussed. Despite the common limitations the traditional single-polarization InSAR technique is already proved its high potential in this application. Today, the determination of the areas of affected by terrain deformation risks becomes one of the most promising applications for operational use o...

A Comparison of Sbas and Ps Ers Insar for Subsidence Monitoring in Oslo, Norway

In this paper, we present the results achieved in the long-term subsidence project in Norway, ESA AO-1104, which have made use of ERS SAR data. By applying the differential SAR interferometry technique referred to as Small Baseline Subset (SBAS) approach to a test area covering the city of Oslo, Norway, we show significant subsidence in several areas of more than 5 mm/year in the time period 19...
