Molecular profiling in lung cancer

چکیده
Summary The biology of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is driven by a complex mutational landscape, and the detection driver molecular alterations next-generation sequencing key for identification druggable alterations. Thus, broad profiling displays standard-of-care approach particularly in patients with advanced adenocarcinoma at time initial diagnosis, but also acquired resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors, guiding further treatment choices. Sequencing plasma-circulating tumor DNA increasing importance NSCLC diagnostics due easy accessibility, representing an optimal tool longitudinal monitoring disease course.

Automated tumor analysis for molecular profiling in lung cancer
The discovery and clinical application of molecular biomarkers in solid tumors, increasingly relies on nucleic acid extraction from FFPE tissue sections and subsequent molecular profiling. This in turn requires the pathological review of haematoxylin & eosin (H&E) stained slides, to ensure sample quality, tumor DNA sufficiency by visually estimating the percentage tumor nuclei and tumor annotat...
متن کاملIntegration of molecular profiling into the lung cancer clinic.
Individuals from five thoracic oncology centers in the United States recently met to discuss how to integrate molecular profiling into the care of all patients with carcinoma of the lung. Lung cancer is an area of medical oncology in which clinicians are beginning to use specific tumor-associated molecular aberrations to assign and/or prioritize targeted therapies for patients. At this early st...
متن کاملAnti-cancer effects and molecular mechanisms of sour tea (Hibiscus sabdariffa) in the human cellular model (A549) of lung cancer
Background and Aims: Lung cancer is one of the most common malignancies worldwide that despite the recent progress, its existing treatments have not sufficient efficiency, and scientists are always trying to find complementary therapies. Medicinal plants, such as sour tea, have attracted lots of attention due to their abundant antioxidant compounds. In the present study, in addition to assessin...
متن کاملMolecular Targets in Lung Cancer
INTRODUCTION Beginning in the late 1960s, published reports theorized that genes of interest could be transferred into human cells using viral DNA shuttles to treat monogenic deficiency disease states (1,2). Over two decades later, in September 1990, Blaese et al. launched the first approved gene therapy clinical trial in an attempt to study the rare adenosine deaminase deficiency (3). In the 1...
