چکیده

In the past two decades, revolutionary technologies of creating cold and ultracold molecules have provided cutting-edge experiments for studying fundamental phenomena collision physics. To a large degree, recent explosion interest in molecular collisions has been sparked by dramatic progress experimental capabilities theoretical methods, which permit to be explored deep quantum mechanical limit. Tremendous advances field already achieved, authors, from an perspective, provide review these studies exploring nature occurring at temperatures ranging Kelvin nanoKelvin regime, as well applications producing molecules.

Cold Collisions in a Molecular Synchrotron.

We study collisions between neutral, deuterated ammonia molecules (ND_{3}) stored in a 50 cm diameter synchrotron and argon atoms in copropagating supersonic beams. The advantages of using a synchrotron in collision studies are twofold: (i) By storing ammonia molecules many round-trips, the sensitivity to collisions is greatly enhanced; (ii) the collision partners move in the same direction as ...

Cold state-selected molecular collisions and reactions.

Over the past decade, and particularly the past five years, a quiet revolution has been building at the border between atomic physics and experimental quantum chemistry. The rapid development of techniques for producing cold and even ultracold molecules without a perturbing rare-gas cluster shell is now enabling the study of chemical reactions and scattering at the quantum scattering limit with...

Probing Scattering Resonances in (Ultra)Cold Inelastic NO-He Collisions.

We theoretically study inelastic collisions between NO radicals and He atoms at low collision energies, focusing on the occurrence of scattering resonances. We specifically investigate de-excitation of rotationally excited NO radicals (X (2)Π1/2, v = 0, j = 3/2, f) at collision energies ranging from 10(-3) to 20 cm(-1) and compute integral and differential cross sections using quantum mechanica...

Polarization in Collisions between Ultra-cold Sodium Atoms

We have studied polarization effects in the photoassociation of two colliding ultra-cold Naatoms. In a first step the two colliding atoms absorb a laser photon to associate to a singly excited molecule in a bound state of the 0−g or 1g potential. In a second step the excited molecule absorbs a second photon and is further excited to a bound level in a doubly excited potential (0−u or 1u which a...
