Modified Scaling Relation for the Random-Field Ising Model
We investigate the low-temperature critical behavior of the three dimensional random-field Ising ferromagnet. By a scaling analysis we find that in the limit of temperature T → 0 the usual scaling relations have to be modified as far as the exponent α of the specific heat is concerned. At zero temperature, the Rushbrooke equation is modified to α+2β+γ = 1, an equation which we expect to be vali...
متن کاملScaling of the Random-Field Ising Model at Zero Temperature
The exact determination of ground states of small systems is used in a scaling study of the random-field Ising model. While three variants of the model are found to be in the same universality class in 3 dimensions, the Gaussian and bimodal models behave distinctly in 4 dimensions with the latter apparently having a discontinuous jump in the magnetization. A finite-size scaling analysis is pres...
متن کاملRandom Field Ising Model
This paper gives an introduction to the Random Field Ising Model (RFIM). Since its rst discussion in the paper by Imry and Ma 1] there has been great interest in this model, since Ising or Ising-like systems in random elds are a good representation of a large number of impure materials. These show features that can not be understood by studying ideal systems (i.e. Ising model). There are a lot ...
متن کاملWeighted Mean Field Theory for the Random Field Ising Model
We consider the mean field theory of the Random Field Ising Model obtained by weighing the many solutions of the mean field equations with Boltzmann-like factors. These solutions are found numerically in three dimensions and we observe critical behavior arising from the weighted sum. The resulting exponents are calculated.
متن کاملChaos in the random field Ising model
The sensitivity of the random field Ising model to small random perturbations of the quenched disorder is studied via exact ground states obtained with a maximum-flow algorithm. In one and two space dimensions we find a mild form of chaos, meaning that the overlap of the old, unperturbed ground state and the new one is smaller than 1, but extensive. In three dimensions the rearrangements are ma...
