چکیده

The treatment of condylar fractures is complex and controversial. The aim the present study to evaluate outcomes open reduction using Modified Blair’s (Transparotid) approach. Materials Methods: A prospective was conducted March 2021 April 2023. Patients reporting department with neck/ subcondylar or without other facial bone requiring internal fixation were included in study. approach used expose fracture site. Intraoperative surgical time exposure, post-operative variables like swelling, pain, status occlusion, nerve dysfunction, salivary leakage (salivary fistula/sialocele), Frey’s syndrome, greater auricular damage, subjective assessment scar esthetics recorded after immediate post-op day 1, 1st week, month, 3rd month 6th month. Results: 36 sites 30 patients, 24 unilateral 6 bilateral. mean average from incision exposure site 22.5 minutes. Mild occlusal discrepancy 3 patients which corrected elastic traction period. Transient dysfunction spontaneous recovery function within months. No major complications noted. Conclusion: Blairs (transparotid) provided sufficient facilitate anatomical reduction. It a good technique provides stable results low complication rates acceptable scar.

Transmasseteric antero-parotid facelift approach for open reduction and internal fixation of condylar fractures

Surgical approaches to the condylar fracture include intraoral, preauricular, submandibular, and retromandibular approaches. Each approach has its own advantages and disadvantages. When a patient needs esthetic results and an intraoral approach is not feasible, the transmasseteric antero-parotid facelift approach is considered. This approach permits direct exposure and allow the surgeon to fixa...

Treatment of Mandibular Condyle Fractures Using a Modified Transparotid Approach via the Parotid Mini-Incision: Experience with 31 Cases

Surgery for mandibular condyle fractures must allow direct vision of the fracture, reduce surgical trauma and achieve reduction and fixation while avoiding facial nerve injury. This prospective study was conducted to introduce a new surgical approach for open reduction and internal fixation of mandibular condyle fractures using a modified transparotid approach via the parotid mini-incision, and...
