Modification of k-ε Model for Sensible Heat and Momentum Flux Reconstruction from Surface Temperature Data

چکیده
We present a modified k-ε model with set of wall-functions suitable for reconstruction sensible heat and momentum fluxes from the observations data (e.g., surface temperature evolution during diurnal cycle). The modification takes into account stability buoyancy effects in Reynolds stress parametrization which affects turbulence production turbulent flux. single-cell single-column versions are presented. is tested based on CASES-99 dry ABL. It shown that presented improves predictions flux magnitude leads to faster onset daytime instability, compared non-modified its scale-limited Monin-Obukhov similarity theory.

Estimation of surface sensible heat flux using dual angle observations of radiative surface temperature
In this study, dual angle observations of radiative surface temperature have been used in conjunction with a two-layer model to derive sensible heat flux over a sparsely vegetated surface. Data collected during the semi-arid-land-surface-atmosphere program (SALSA) over a semi-arid grassland in Mexico were used to assess the performance of the approach. The results showed that this approach led ...
متن کاملSurface renewal method for estimating sensible heat flux
For short canopies, latent energy flux may be estimated using a shortened surface energy balance from measurements of sensible and soil heat flux and the net irradiance at the surface. The surface renewal (SR) method for estimating sensible heat, latent energy, and other scalar fluxes has the advantage over other micrometeorological methods since the method requires only measurement of the scal...
متن کاملOn the Brutsaert temperature roughness length model for sensible heat flux estimation
The scalar roughness length for temperature, z0h, is necessary to estimate the sensible flux from atmospheric surface layer similarity theory in conjunction with skin temperature measurements. A theoretical relationship for z0h as a function of the roughness Reynolds number z01 which was developed by Brutsaert [1975] for rough-bluff surfaces is often used to link infrared skin temperature measu...
متن کاملEstimating sensible and latent heat flux densities from grapevine canopies using surface renewal
Fine-wire thermocouples were used to measure high-frequency temperature above and within canopies and structure functions were employed to determine temperature ramp characteristics, which were used in a fundamental conservation of energy equation to estimate sensible heat flux density. Earlier experiments over dense, tall, and short canopies demonstrated that the surface renewal method works, ...
متن کاملMeasurement of Boundary Conditions - Surface Heat Flux and Surface Temperature
In order to understand a heat transfer phenomenon, it is sometimes very important to know the change in heat flux and temperature with time or the distribution of the heat flux and temperature on the surface of a heating block. Furthermore, with the development of computational thermal-fluid dynamics, experimental data that are of the CFD level, both spatially and temporally, are needed to vali...
