Moderate and high dental fear by sex and age using the Children’s Fear Survey Schedule-Dental Subscale

Objective: To assess the relationship between Children’s Fear Survey Schedule-Dental Subscale (CFSS-DS) questionnaire’s items and sex age in children with moderate high dental fear levels. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out a municipality Northeastern region of Brazil 185 aged 8-10 years both sexes, who had minimum score 32 on CFSS-DS questionnaire, corresponding to fear. Descriptive statistical analysis Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis tests were performed. The significance level adopted was 5%. Results: Most female (59.5%) 9 old (37.3%). average total 40.44 ± 6.81 (with maximum 75). According CFSS-DS, 53.5% Items “Injections,” “Having stranger touch you,” “The dentist drilling,” somebody put instruments your mouth,” “Choking,” go hospital” highest median values. A significant difference observed ages for item you” (p=0.001). Conclusion: questionnaire showed statistically age, while no differences found regarding sex.
