Dynamic modelling of hardness changes of aluminium nanostructure during mechanical ball milling process
In this research, the feasibility of using mathematical modelling in the ball milling process has been evaluated to verify the hardness changes of an aluminium nanostructure. Considering the model of normal force displacement (NFD), the radius of elastic-plastic and normal displacement of two balls were computed by applying analytical modelling and coding in MATLAB. Properties of balls and alum...
متن کاملInstruments Matching via Timbral Features
In the paper the problem of matching instruments according to their timbral similarity is considered for a collection of 53 high quality violins. The fact that the instruments are of the same type makes the subject particularly challenging. The starting point of the analysis is calculation of a set of features based on harmonic analysis, e.g. odd-to-even harmonics amplitudes ratio, intensity of...
متن کاملModelling the Power Supply Network - Hardness and Approximation
In this paper we study a problem named graph partitioning with supply and demand (GPSD), motivated by applications in energy transmission. The input consists of an undirected graph G with the nodes partitioned into two sets: suppliers and consumers. Each supply node has associated a capacity and each consumer node has associated a demand. The goal is to find a subgraph of G and to partition it ...
متن کاملCover Song Identification with Timbral Shape Sequences
We introduce a novel low level feature for identifying cover songs which quantifies the relative changes in the smoothed frequency spectrum of a song. Our key insight is that a sliding window representation of a chunk of audio can be viewed as a time-ordered point cloud in high dimensions. For corresponding chunks of audio between different versions of the same song, these point clouds are appr...
متن کاملAudio Melody Extraction Based on Timbral Similarity
The extended abstract presents our approach to extraction of melody from audio recordings, based on timbral similarity of melodic fragments. The algorithm was submitted to MIREX 2005 competition and scored 5 among 9 submissions, with an average score of 59.18% correctly transcribed voiced and unvoiced portions.
