Modelling the dynamics of land cover by 2050 in the north-western Atacora (Benin, West Africa)

In the north-western Atacora region, rugged terrain limits access to agricultural land and creates a particular dynamic of cover. The objective this research is simulate cover in 2050s mountainous area northwestern Benin. Landsat 5 TM images from 1988 8 OLI-TIRS 2020 are main data used. Supervised classification modelling were performed with Idrisi Selva software. annual regression rate 18.30 % projection 2050 predicts disappearance dense dry forests reduction forest galleries woodlands favour field fallow mosaics (56.03 %) tree shrub savannas (25.23 %).
