Modelling reinjection of two-phase non-condensable gases and water in geothermal wells

Steam production from high enthalpy geothermal systems is frequently accompanied by the emission of non-condensable gases (NCGs), initially dissolved in liquid phase or mixed vapour at depth reservoir. Capturing and reinjecting (CO2, CH4, NH3, H2S, H2, …) together with condensed steam leads to a significant improvement environmental profile power helps reservoir recharge pressure support. Nowadays, there are several ongoing projects targeting minimalization impact exploitation through reinjection NCGs. For low NCG content, can be fully into water reinjected. However, for concentration NCGs, dissolution only partial, two-phase mixture needs reinjected achieve this goal. We present here numerical results process two different sites injection scenarios, focusing on case (liquid–gas) flows. Three commercial software (UniSim®, PIPESIM, OLGA) one in-house developed code (GWellFM) were used, their compared.
