چکیده
A mixed time-domain/frequency-domain method is proposed for modelling dense wave energy converter (WEC) arrays with non-linear power take-off (PTO). The model based on a harmonic balance which describes the system response in frequency domain, while evaluating PTO force and solving equations of motion time domain. computed Lagrange multipliers. In order to apply WEC array responses real sea states, series split into windows simulation carried out individually per window. demonstrated by investigating dynamics Ocean Grazer (OG-WEC) an adaptable piston pumping system. key parameters thought possibly influence accuracy, including number components, length window overlay, are discussed. It shown that can significantly reduce computational cost acceptable accuracy penalty.

Experimental Evaluation of IRWEC1, a Novel Offshore Wave Energy Converter
This paper describes the innovative offshore point-absorber wave energy converter (WEC), IRWEC1, under development by the Hydrodynamics, Acoustics and Marine propulsion Group at Babol Noshirvani University of Technology. Totally enclosed in an outer shell, with no external moving parts, IRWEC1 is completely sealed which make it a robust and trustable system. Important motion for this WEC is the...
متن کاملNonlinear control of flap-type wave energy converter with a non-ideal power take-off system
Wave energy converters (WECs) require active control to maximise energy capture over a wide range of sea conditions, which is generally achieved by making the device resonate. The exaggerated device motion arising at resonance, however, may result in nonlinear effects that are ignored by the linear models that are typically employed. In particular, nonlinear viscous forces are significant for p...
متن کاملHydrodynamic modelling of a direct drive wave energy converter
In this article we present numerical studies of waves interacting with a cylindrical point absorber that is directly driving a seabed based linear generator. For waves useful for power conversion, the wave/point absorber interaction can be modelled, using potential theory assuming an inviscid irrotational incompressible fluid. The generator is modelled as a viscous damper. This paper pays speci...
متن کاملModelling the WITT wave energy converter
This presentation describes work undertaken as part of INNOVATE UK funding led by Witt Energy Ltd to investigate the efficacy of a novel design of wave energy converter (WEC). A sealed spherical hull is floating on the surface of the water (Fig. 2(b)) and is moored to the sea bed under a four point catenary mooring system. A mechanical device known as the WITT (Fig. 1) is housed within the hull...
متن کاملInvestigation of the effect of geometry float body on the power of wave energy absorber converter using mooring catenary
This paper presents the effect of hydrodynamic parameters of the two-body converters of a point wave absorber on the amount of power output. This converter includes two submerged and floating bodies which are connected to the spring-damper system. The whole of the converter is connected to the sea bed by mooring catenary. The relative displacement of the floating body and the submerged body is ...
