Modelling Coastal Morphodynamic Evolution under Human Impacts: A Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Coastal and estuarine morphogenetic evolution has been affected by anthropogenic activities. Human activities have become an important external force for the future prediction of morphological in ecosystem health. We reviewed existing literature on modelling impacts human changes. Three types approaches (the application coastal-area morphodynamic models, equilibrium modelling, machine learning) are introduced collaboratively to complement each other. The Bayes network learning can be used include uncertainties forces intrinsic limitations models. Future research should consider bio-morphodynamic effects activities, as significantly damaged ecosystem. Modelling processes benthic communities, well feedback morphodynamics, appears increasingly protection restoration. From perspective a longer time span, morphodynamics considered which requires better quantification understanding human–nature interactions.

Evolution of Marine Morphodynamic Modelling: Time for 3-D?

The question whether it is time for marine morphodynamic models to take into account the 3-D nature of water and sediment motion is discussed starting from practical demand and the state-of-the-art in basic knowledge and model development. This leads to the observation that there is a clear practical demand, and that suitable software environments and some 3-D model components exist, but that t...

A coastal morphodynamic model for cross-shore sediment transport

A numerical model to represent the mechanisms of cross-shore sediment transport induced by wave and storm events has been established. The model consists of three sub-models (wave transformation, morphodynamic movement, and sedimentation) capable of representing the transport and redistribution of four grain sizes over a coastal area. It is designed to simulate the morphological evolution cause...

Applicability of a coastal morphodynamic model for fluvial environments

The dominant processes of sediment transport and morphological changes are different between rivers and coastal areas. In many situations rivers, estuaries and coasts need to be modelled together in an integrated way. This paper investigates the capability of a freely available, open source, coastal morphodynamic software (XBeach) to estimate sediment transport and morphological changes in fluv...

The Validation of a New GSTA Case in a Dynamic Coastal Environment Using Morphodynamic Modelling and Bathymetric Monitoring

Several methods of monitoring sediment transport exist and have varying degrees of success depending on the study sites characteristics. Grain Size Trend Analysis (GSTA) is an experimental method based on identifying transport trends from the variation of sediment grain characteristics within a defined study area. The parameters examined when performing GSTA are mean grain size, sorting coeffic...

Impacts of Salmon Aquaculture on the Coastal Environment: A Review

By the end of this decade, world-wide production of farmed salmon is estimated to reach 2,000,000 mt and almost all farmed salmon production takes place in sheltered areas of the coastal zone. This paper reviews the main activities associated with the marine phase of salmon aquaculture production, the pathways to the environment of the various activities and the potential effects on the coastal...
