چکیده
This paper develops the equilibrium equations describing flexoelectric effect in soft dielectrics under large deformations. Previous works have developed related theories using a coupling tensor of mixed material-spatial character. Here, we formulate model terms completely defined material frame, with same symmetries small-strain flexocoupling and leading naturally to objective polarization fields. The energy potential are first expressed deformation polarization, then rewritten electric potential, yielding an unconstrained system fourth order partial differential (PDEs). We further develop theory geometrically nonlinear extensible rods open closed circuit conditions, which examine analytically cantilever bending buckling mechanical electrical actuation. Besides being simple explicit pertinent slender structures, this rod also allows us test our general its numerical implementation B-splines. is robust as it handles electromechanical instabilities materials.

Flexoelectricity in soft materials and biological membranes
Flexoelectricity and the concomitant emergence of electromechanical size-effects at the nanoscale have been recently exploited to propose tantalizing concepts such as the creation of “apparently piezoelectric” materials without piezoelectric materials, e.g. graphene, emergence of “giant” piezoelectricity at the nanoscale, enhanced energy harvesting, among others. The aforementioned developments...
متن کاملInstabilities in multilayered soft dielectrics
Experimental observations clearly show that the performance of dielectric elastomericbased devices can be considerably improved using composite materials. A critical issue in the development of composite dielectric materials toward applications is the prediction of their failure mechanisms due to the applied electromechanical loads. In this paper we investigate analytically the influence of ele...

A stable and accurate deformable model to simulate the deformation of soft tissues is a challenging area of research. This paper describes a soft tissue simulation method that can deform multiple organs synchronously and interact with virtual surgical instruments accurately. The model we used in our method is a multi-organ system by point masses and springs. The organs that anatomically connect...
متن کاملNuclear deformation at finite temperature.
Deformation, a key concept in our understanding of heavy nuclei, is based on a mean-field description that breaks the rotational invariance of the nuclear many-body Hamiltonian. We present a method to analyze nuclear deformations at finite temperature in a framework that preserves rotational invariance. The auxiliary-field Monte Carlo method is used to generate a statistical ensemble and calcul...
متن کاملElectrostriction in elastic dielectrics undergoing large deformation
We develop a thermodynamic model of electrostriction for elastic dielectrics capable of large deformation. The model reproduces the classical equations of state for dielectrics at small deformation, but shows that some electrostrictive effects negligible at small deformation may become pronounced at large deformation. The model is then specialized to account for recent experiments with an elast...
