چکیده

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), an invasive aquatic weed with large biomass production is of socio-economic and environmental concern in fresh water bodies such as the Lake Victoria East Africa. Efforts towards its control removal can be complemented by biogas for use energy source. The co-digestion (WH) ruminal slaughterhouse waste (RSW) has potential to improve from WH through collation processes parameters C/N C/P ratios, potassium concentration buffering capacity. Knowledge optimum proportion RSW minor substrate both process operational importance. Moreover, efficient operation requires understanding relationship between parameters. Kinetic models useful tools describing batch reactors. While first order kinetics assume that rate proportional remaining substrates, other modified Gompertz Logistic incorporate lag phase, a key feature anaerobic digestion process. Methane Production by Anaerobic Digestion of Water Hyacinth (eichhornia Crassipes)

Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is an aquatic biomass species that exhibits prolific growth in many s s o f h e world (1). It has been suggested as a strong candidate for production of methane because of high biomass yield potential (2). Several studies have been carried out which establish that methane can be produced from water hyacinth under anaerobic digestion conditions (3-6). Both b...

Anaerobic Co-digestion of Dairy Manure with Potato Waste

In this study, anaerobic co-digestion of dairy manure (DM) and potato waste (PW) was evaluated to determine the best mixing ratio in terms of biogas and methane (CH4) productions. Batch lab-scale anaerobic co-digestion of DM with PW was conducted at two different temperature ranges [mesophilic (MT) (35-37 oC) and thermophilic (TT) (55-57 oC)]. The tests were conducted at five DM:PW mixing ratio...

Microwave Pretreatment of Fresh Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia Crassipes) in Batch Anaerobic Digestion Tank (RESEARCH NOTE)

The purpose of the research was to study the effect of microwave power inpretreatment of fresh waterhyacinth on biogas production. The variations of microwave power levels are 240; 400; 560 and 800 W. The variations of microwave heating time are 5; 7 and 9 min. The unpretreated fresh water hyacinth are used as control. The result of research showed that the microwave pretreatment of fresh water...
