Model Predictive Control for Photovoltaic Plants with Non-Ideal Energy Storage Using Mixed Integer Linear Programming

This paper proposes a model-based predictive control strategy based on mixed-integer linear programming for photovoltaic power plant with battery energy storage. The objective is to maximize the revenues from delivered both panels and batteries grid in deregulated electricity market. For each interval, proposed algorithm incorporates information solar radiation, market prices, state of charge determine intervals injection into economic benefits. considers rate-based variable efficiency model time-varying energies thus providing more general implementation than previous schemes literature same purpose. Simulations considering operational procedures Spanish as case study show that, by integrating model, increments benefits 21% compared results reported conditions. Additionally, approach reduces number discharge cycles, potentially extending lifespan batteries.
