Mitochondrial dysfunctions in T cells: focus on inflammatory bowel disease

چکیده
Mitochondria has emerged as a critical ruler of metabolic reprogramming in immune responses and inflammation. In the context colitogenic T cells IBD, there been increasing research interest pathways glycolysis, pyruvate oxidation, glutaminolysis. These have shown to play crucial role cells, leading increased inflammatory cytokine production tissue damage. addition reprogramming, mitochondrial dysfunction also implicated pathogenesis IBD. Studies that exhibit impaired respiration, elevated levels mROS, alterations calcium homeostasis, biogenesis, aberrant mitochondria-associated membrane formation. Here, we discuss our current knowledge dysfunctions well potential therapeutic applications for treating IBD with evidence from animal experiments.

Neuroimmunomodulation in the Gut: Focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Intestinal immunity is finely regulated by several concomitant and overlapping mechanisms, in order to efficiently sense external stimuli and mount an adequate response of either tolerance or defense. In this context, a complex interplay between immune and nonimmune cells is responsible for the maintenance of normal homeostasis. However, in certain conditions, the disruption of such an intricat...
متن کاملMitochondrial dysfunction in inflammatory bowel disease
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) represents a group of idiopathic disorders characterized by chronic or recurring inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. While the exact etiology of disease is unknown, IBD is recognized to be a complex, multifactorial disease that results from an intricate interplay of genetic predisposition, an altered immune response, changes in the intestinal microbiota,...
متن کاملLoss of suppressor T-cells in active inflammatory bowel disease.
The proportions and absolute numbers of helper and suppressor T-cells in 40 patients with inflammatory bowel disease and 22 control subjects were determined, using the monoclonal antibodies OKT 4 and OKT 8. There were no significant differences in helper or suppressor cell proportions among 15 steroid treated patients with active inflammatory bowel disease, 10 patients with inactive inflammator...
متن کاملInflammatory Bowel Disease Drugs: A Focus on Autophagy
Inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Medications such as corticosteroids, thiopurines, immunomodulators and biologic agents are used to induce and maintain remission; however, response to these drugs is variable and can diminish over time. Defective autophagy has been strongly linked to IBD pathogenesis, with evidence showing t...
متن کاملGrowth Hormone Resistance—Special Focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Growth hormone (GH) plays major anabolic and catabolic roles in the body and is important for regulating several aspects of growth. During an inflammatory process, cells may develop a state of GH resistance during which their response to GH stimulation is limited. In this review, we will emphasize specific mechanisms governing the formation of GH resistance in the active phase of inflammatory b...
