Mitochondrial calcium signaling and redox homeostasis in cardiac health and disease

چکیده
The energy demand of cardiomyocytes changes continuously in response to variations cardiac workload. Cardiac excitation-contraction coupling is fueled primarily by adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production oxidative phosphorylation mitochondria. rate mitochondrial metabolism matched the ATP consumption cytosol parallel activation calcium (Ca 2+ ) and diphosphate (ADP). During workload transitions, Ca accumulates matrix, where it stimulates activity tricarboxylic acid cycle. In this review, we describe how mitochondria internalize extrude , relevance process for redox homeostasis healthy heart, derangements ion handling cause cardiomyocyte dysfunction heart failure.

15 صفحه اولA role for TSPO in mitochondrial Ca2+ homeostasis and redox stress signaling
The 18 kDa translocator protein TSPO localizes on the outer mitochondrial membrane (OMM). Systematically overexpressed at sites of neuroinflammation it is adopted as a biomarker of brain conditions. TSPO inhibits the autophagic removal of mitochondria by limiting PARK2-mediated mitochondrial ubiquitination via a peri-organelle accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Here we describe that...
متن کاملLipid raft redox signaling: molecular mechanisms in health and disease.
Lipid rafts, the sphingolipid and cholesterol-enriched membrane microdomains, are able to form different membrane macrodomains or platforms upon stimulations, including redox signaling platforms, which serve as a critical signaling mechanism to mediate or regulate cellular activities or functions. In particular, this raft platform formation provides an important driving force for the assembling...
متن کاملRedox signaling in cardiac physiology and pathology.
Redox signaling refers to the specific and usually reversible oxidation/reduction modification of molecules involved in cellular signaling pathways. In the heart, redox signaling regulates several physiological processes (eg, excitation-contraction coupling) and is involved in a wide variety of pathophysiological and homoeostatic or stress response pathways. Reactive oxygen species involved in ...
