Mitigation of Salinity Stress on Pomegranate (Punica granatum L. cv. Wonderful) Plant Using Salicylic Acid Foliar Spray

چکیده
Salt stress significantly impacts plant morphological structure and physiological processes, resulting in decreased growth. Salicylic acid (SA) is a key signal molecule that protects plants from the negative of salinity. Under natural conditions, pomegranate generally exhibits salt-tolerant characteristics. The objective this study was to elucidate salt-tolerance level (Punica granatum L. cv. Wonderful) effect regulating strategy SA foliar spray on growth, structure, processes. levels were 0, 0.25, 0.50, 1 mM presence salinity 10, 35, 70 NaCl, respectively. Vegetative growth indices, including stem cross-sectional area, leaf total dry weight, lowered by treatments. However, applications greatly improved characteristics under salt stress. effects effectively reversed treatment at compared control other Interestingly, enhanced chlorophyll, phenolic, carbohydrate, proline contents leaves while decreasing electrolyte leakage (EL), Na, Cl levels. Moreover, treatments nutrient content increased activities peroxidase (POD) catalase (CAT), with decrease malondialdehyde (MDA) content. This suggests alleviation may be due activation antioxidant enzymatic mechanism lipid peroxidation plant.

متن کاملThe role of pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) in colon cancer.
Colon cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related death in the Western world. Although cytotoxic chemotherapeutic agents are available to treat the disease, these agents become ineffective as the disease advances to an invasive state. An alternative but viable approach to reduce the incidence of this deadly disease is then, to increase the dietary intake of relatively non-toxic fruits a...
متن کاملINVITED REVIEW Biotechnological advances in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.)
Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) is known for its nutritional, medicinal, and ornamental importance. It is conventionally propagated by hardwood and softwood cuttings, but about 1 yr is needed before the rooted cuttings can be transplanted to the field. Propagation by seed is undesirable as populations are heterozygous and seed propagation leads to wide variations in tree and fruit characterist...
