Mitigation of Low-Frequency Oscillation in Power Systems through Optimal Design of Power System Stabilizer Employing ALO

Low-frequency oscillations are an inevitable phenomenon of a power system. This paper proposes Ant lion optimization approach to optimize the dual-input system stabilizer (PSS2B) parameters enhance transfer capability 400 kV line in North-West region Ethiopian electric network by damping low-frequency oscillation. Double-input Power stabilizers (PSSs) currently used systems damp out oscillations. The gained minimum ratio and eigenvalue results proposed algorithm (ALO) compared with existing conventional get better efficiency at various loading conditions. Additionally, requires minimal time estimate key oscillation damper (POD). Consequently, average taken optimally size PSS controller was 14.6 s, which is pretty small indicates real-time implementation ALO developed model. nonlinear equations that represent have been linearized then placed state-space form order study analyze dynamic performance problems. Finally, fixed-gain improves maximum overshoot 5.2% settling 51.4%, but sized employed method had improved 16.86% 78.7%.
