چکیده

Vast collections of barley germplasm have been established and conserved in various global gene banks. These hold tremendous genetic diversity for resistance genes to Puccinia hordei, a causal agent leaf rust. This study was undertaken discover, characterize postulate the known Rph (resistance hordei) identify novel sources ASR (all-stage resistance) APR (adult plant P. hordei. A core set 315 lines were rust-tested as seedlings their response eight Australian pathotypes hordei genotyped with molecular markers linked characterised genes. tests led postulation rust Rph1, Rph2, Rph3, Rph9.am, Rph12, Rph15, Rph19 Rph25 singly or combination. Field revealed that vast majority (84%) carried APR. Genotyping APR-carrying bPb-0837, Ebmac0603 sun43-44 identified likely carry Rph20, Rph23 Rph24 Thirty-nine per cent negative all three thus postulated uncharacterized The this provide valuable resource breeders further utilization diversifying basis barley.

Identification of QTL conferring resistance to stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. hordei) and leaf rust (Puccinia hordei) in barley using nested association mapping (NAM)

The biotrophic rust fungi Puccinia hordei and Puccinia striiformis are important barley pathogens with the potential to cause high yield losses through an epidemic spread. The identification of QTL conferring resistance to these pathogens is the basis for targeted breeding approaches aiming to improve stripe rust and leaf rust resistance of modern cultivars. Exploiting the allelic richness of w...

Identification of genetic resources of field resistance to barley leaf rust in local germplasm of cultivated barley

The barley leaf rust has been important in recent years in Iran. In order to identify the genetic resources of resistance to this disease, 207 Iranian barley landraces were studied. The germplasms were investigated at the field of Iraqi-Mahalleh research station in Gorgan as the disease hotspot under natural incidence over three years. The results showed that four genotypes including KC18638 an...

An eQTL Analysis of Partial Resistance to Puccinia hordei in Barley

BACKGROUND Genetic resistance to barley leaf rust caused by Puccinia hordei involves both R genes and quantitative trait loci. The R genes provide higher but less durable resistance than the quantitative trait loci. Consequently, exploring quantitative or partial resistance has become a favorable alternative for controlling disease. Four quantitative trait loci for partial resistance to leaf ru...

Phenotypic and Molecular Screening of Tomato Germplasm for Resistance to Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus

Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) is a major tomato virus in tropical and subtropical regions. In this study, 134 accessions of Solanum lycopersicum and six accessions of Solanum peruvianum were assessed for resistance to an Iranian isolate of TYLCV. Plants were inoculated using whiteflies (Bemisia tabaci) and the reaction of plants was evaluated based on either disease symptoms or viral DN...
