• Parametric design of prismatic concrete beams reduces embodied carbon by up to 38%. Further savings 8% are possible with parametric shape optimisation. Optimum designs for a given span vary criteria. Estimating deflections alongside optimisation algorithm expands the space. The construction industry has received attention due its significant contribution global emissions. In this paper, conventional and practices reinforced scrutinised explore potential reductions in carbon. For set criteria, family discrete beam which have different geometries corresponding reinforcements were developed identify those minimum Two algorithms developed, one geometry theoretical optimum design, another considering technical feasibility.
