Miniature solid-state switched spiral generator for the cost effective, programmable triggering of large scale pulsed power accelerators

This paper presents the design and testing of several different configurations spiral generator, designed to trigger high current switches in next generation pulsed power devices. In particular, it details development generators that utilize new ultrafast thyristor technology as an input switch, along with a polarity dependent output gap improve efficiency generator design. The produced 50 kV from 3.6 charging voltage, rise time only ns jitter 1.3 ns---directly comparable, if not better than, employing triggered spark switch. was constructed house commonly available components 3D printed case, showed remarkable repeatability stability---simple alterations could further reduce time. entire control electronics, fitted into case $210\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}145\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}33\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{mm}$.
