MIL-53(Fe)@perylene Diimide All-Organic Heterojunctions for the Enhanced Photocatalytic Removal of Pollutants and Selective Oxidation of Benzyl Alcohol

Organic semiconductors are promising materials for the photocatalytic treatment of pollutants and organic synthesis. Herein, MIL-53(Fe)@perylene diimide (PDI) heterojunctions were constructed by ultrasonic assembly using PDI as co-catalyst, supramolecular material was uniformly distributed on surfaces MIL-53(Fe). The most effective M53@PDI-20 achieved 72.7% photodegradation rhodamine B (10 mg/L) within 50 min a 99.9% reduction in Cr(VI) 150 min, corresponding apparent degradation rate constants higher than single component. Meanwhile, conversion benzyl alcohol over 91.5% 5 h with selectivity above 90% under visible light exposure, which more double that PDI. well-matched band structures strong π–π bonding interactions between MIL-53(Fe) can increase electron delocalization effect to facilitate transfer separation photogenerated carriers. Lots oxidative reactive species (h+, •O2− •OH) also played great contribution oxidation capacity system. This work suggests MIL-53(Fe)@PDI may be pollutant removal
