Migration Motives, Timing, and Outcomes of Internationally Mobile Couples

Abstract This chapter presents analyses of data from the first wave German Emigration and Remigration Panel Study (GERPS) to explore role gender differences in migration motives, patterns, outcomes recently emigrated or remigrated couples. The results show that emigration couples follows a traditional pattern with leading men trailing women. However, we also found important evidence remigration patterns do not follow these norms. decision towards timing within is led by women independent age, education, experience, personality traits.
