Migraine phenotype differentially modulates the attentional network: A cross sectional observation study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Signs of distinct brain dysfunction in patients where migraine intersects with vertigo (i.e. vestibular (VM)), remain elusive. As and can both independently modulate attentional processes, here we seek the utility network to functionally differentiate patients. Methods: We used Attentional Network Task (ANT) elucidate three separate functional networks: Alerting, orienting resolving conflict. 120 participants had attend direction a target visual stimulus, while other parameters were simultaneously manipulated. Reaction times across networks assessed in, (i) 30 healthy controls, (ii) VM patients, (iii) without vertigo, (iv) benign paroxysmal positional (BPPV) but no migraine. Results: Patients (mean = 737.1 ms, SEM 28), 735.3 36.4), BPPV 720.3 ms 24.3) all exhibited significantly delayed ANT reaction compared controls 661.3 23.4). Specific deficits observed for conflict VM, alerting BPPV. Conclusion: displayed executive function characterized by an inability focus resources suppress peripheral distractors, whereas migraineurs changes that reflects hypervigilance.

متن کاملEndothelial function in migraine: a cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND Migraine has been associated with cardiovascular disorders. Endothelial dysfunction may be a mechanism underlying this association. The present study tested the hypothesis that endothelium-dependent vasodilation, basal endothelial nitric oxide release and endothelial fibrinolytic capacity are impaired in migraine patients. METHODS Graded doses of sodium nitroprusside (SNP, 0.2 to 0...
متن کاملOlfactory acuity in chronic migraine: a cross-sectional study.
OBJECTIVE/BACKGROUND This study aims to measure olfactory acuity in chronic migraine subjects, at baseline and on migraine days, and compare to age- and sex-matched controls. Olfactory impairment is common in neurological disorders. While smell hypersensitivity has been established with chronic migraine, olfactory acuity has not been well studied. METHODS We recruited 50 subjects with chronic...

Background Employee engagement is the emotional commitment of the employee towards the organisation. We aimed to analyse baseline work engagement using Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES) at a teaching hospital. Methods We have conducted a cross-sectional study within the National Health Service (NHS) Teaching Hospital in the UK. All participants were working age population from both genders...
