Midwives’ experiences of implementing respectful maternity care knowledge in daily maternity care practices after participating in a four-day RMC training

Abstract Background In Ghana, studies documenting the effectiveness of evidence-based specialized training programs to promote respectful maternity care (RMC) practices in healthcare facilities are few. Thus, we designed a four-day RMC workshop and piloted it with selected midwives tertiary facility Kumasi, Ghana. The present paper evaluated impact by exploring midwives’ experiences implementing knowledge their daily 4 months after workshop. Methods Through descriptive qualitative research design, followed-up conducted 14 in-depth interviews participants training, applying acquired practices. Data were managed analysed using NVivo 12. Codes collapsed into subthemes assigned three major predetermined themes. Results findings have been broadly categorized themes: practising care, health barriers RMC, recommendations for improving mentioned that newly has positively improved relationship childbearing women, assisted them effectively communicate position recognize autonomy women.
