Microwave heating in heterogeneous catalysis: Modelling and design of rectangular traveling-wave microwave reactor

Microwave irradiation can intensify catalytic chemistry by selective and controlled microwave-catalytic packed-bed interaction. However, turning it to reality from laboratory practical applications is hindered challenges in the reactor design scale-up. Here, we present a novel, rectangular traveling-wave microwave (RTMR) provide an easy-to-handle, 3-step procedure of such reactor. The multiphysics model couples electromagnetic field, heat transfer, fluid dynamics order optimize geometrical parameters operational conditions for microwave-assisted heterogeneous catalysis. results show that energy input/output ports should be well-positioned matched; otherwise, would significantly decrease efficiency. In terms transmission, RTMR presents mix between standing wave systems. Gas space velocity input temperature affect profile, gas–solid no significant difference under certain contact.

Microwave Heating Cavities: Modelling and Analysis
In this paper, cylindrical metallic cavities used in the processes of dielectric materials heating and drying by microwave energy, are discussed. Their mode tuning behaviour under different loading and excitation conditions has been presented.
