Microstructured Magnetoelastic Membrane for Magnetic Bioactuators and Soft Artificial Muscles Applications

In the growing field of mechanobiology, artificial mechano-reactive systems play an essential role in generation mechanical forces and control material deformations. Free-standing magnetic nanoparticles have been studied for stimulation living cells. Magnetic composite materials are also used to mimic muscles at macroscale. this study, a new magnetically actuated membrane is focused, which can be various applications soft robotics or as bioreactor. It consists few microns thick polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) array microdisks embedded. These membranes large tuneable flexibility, they transparent, biocompatible, waterproof. They usable biology optics, both potentially combined. The deformations under experimentally characterized modeled. By pancreatic cells on such membranes, it has demonstrated that insulin production from enhanced thanks provided by membrane.
