Microstructure Evolution in a GOES Thin Strip

نویسندگان

چکیده

This paper focuses on the evolution of microstructure in a grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) thin strip after casting. After solidification, consisted delta-ferrite. A small fraction austenite was formed during cooling two-phase region (gamma+delta). Fine Cr2CuS4 particles precipitated ferrite and along delta/gamma interfaces. Laths primary Widmanstätten (WA) nucleated directly high-angle delta-ferrite grain boundaries. The formation WA laths both adjacent ferritic grains resulted zig-zag shape boundaries due to their local rotation nucleation. Based EBSD results, mechanism has been proposed. Besides morphology, also as films Sulfide precipitation interfaces made it possible prove that decomposition upon drop temperature initiated by epitaxial ferrite. Further brought decay either pearlite or mixture plate martensite some retained austenite.

Interface controlled microstructure evolution in nanolayered thin films

Article history: Received 17 March 2016 Received in revised form 21 May 2016 Accepted 22 May 2016 Available online 7 June 2016 X-ray nano-diffraction and transmission electron microscopy were conducted along the thickness of a ~4 μm thick CrN/AlN multilayer with continuously increasing AlN layer thicknesses from ~1 to 15 nm on ~7 nm thick CrN template layers. The experiments reveal coherent gro...

In vitro evolution goes deep.

A pproximately 20 years ago when one of the authors of this commentary was a postdoctoral fellow in Bob Sauer’s laboratory at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an extremely energetic individual (the author in question was not one of these) could run three sequencing gels in one day, and thus potentially obtain 72 sequence reads of a few hundred bases each (in practice, unfortunately, one n...

Microstructure prediction and control in hot strip mills *Dr

A key determinant of the quality of hot-rolled strip is mechanical properties lying within the tolerance range. Traditionally, this is done by testing samples which is costly, time-consuming and ties up stock awaiting test results. An alternative is given by MicroStructureMonitor, a computer model-based system which calculates the required quality parameters rather than measuring them and addit...

Crystal Precipitation and Dissolution in a Thin Strip∗

A two-dimensional micro-scale model for crystal dissolution and precipitation in a porous medium is presented. The local geometry of the pore is represented as a thin strip. The model allows for changes in the pore volume. A formal limiting argument leads to a system of 1D effective upscaled equations. The effective equations allow for travelling wave solutions. Existence and uniqueness of thes...
