چکیده
Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) integrated to photonic structures provide an intriguing playground for the development of novel optoelectronic devices with improved performance. Here, we show enhanced light emission from TMDC based van der Waals heterostructures through coupling microsphere cavities. We observe cavity-induced enhancement materials which varies by order magnitude, depending on size and thickness supporting oxide substrate. Furthermore, demonstrate cavity-enhanced electroluminescence emitting transistor, showing potential 2D material hybrid structures.

Seeking for thermoelectric (TE) materials with high figure of merit (or ZT), which can directly converts low-grade wasted heat (400 to 500 K) into electricity, has been a big challenge. Inspired by the concept of multilayer thermionic devices, we propose and design a solid-state thermionic devices (as a power generator or a refrigerator) in using van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure sandwiched b...

In this project, we designed and engineered hetero-interfaces of 2-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) materials for the realization of novel quantum electronic states. We employed molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) combined with nanofabrication techniques to form functional nanostructures that can be utilized for new electronic device applications. We have demonstrated growth of topological insulat...

Quantum confinement has made it possible to detect and manipulate single-electron charge and spin states. The recent focus on two-dimensional (2D) materials has attracted significant interests on possible applications to quantum devices, including detecting and manipulating either single-electron charging behavior or spin and valley degrees of freedom. However, the most popular model systems, c...
