Microseismic Location Error Due to Eikonal Traveltime Calculation

نویسندگان

چکیده

The accuracy of computed traveltimes in a velocity model plays crucial role localization microseismic events. conventional approach usually utilizes robust fast sweeping or marching methods to solve the eikonal equation numerically with finite-difference scheme. These introduce traveltime errors that strongly depend on direction wave propagation. Such error results moveout changes and introduces significant location bias. issue can be addressed by using scheme factored equation. This yields significantly more accurate therefore reduces error, though still contain small systematic Alternatively, physics-informed neural network solver, which randomized resulting errors.

Traveltime computation with the linearized eikonal equation

Traveltime computation is an important part of seismic imaging algorithms. Conventional implementations of Kirchhoff migration require precomputing traveltime tables or include traveltime calculation in the innermost computational loop . The cost of traveltime computations is especially noticeable in the case of 3-D prestack imaging where the input data size increases the level of nesting in co...

An eikonal based formulation for traveltime perturbation with respect to the source location a

Traveltime calculations amount to solving the nonlinear eikonal equation for a given source location. We analyze the relationship between the eikonal solution and its perturbations with respect to the source location and develop a partial differential equation that relates the traveltime field for one source location to that for a nearby source. This linear first-order equation in one form depe...
